Опис:
Elspeth McGillicuddy putuje vlakom u 16.50 iz Paddingtona u Londonu za St. Mary Mead u posjet svojoj staroj prijateljici gđici Marple. U jednom trenutku vlak stane, a drugi vlak stane usporedno s njim. U suprotnom vagonu iznenada se otvori prozor i otkrije kako visoki, crni muškarac davi ženu. Gotovo istodobno vlak krene dalje, a gđa McGillicuddy u šoku shvati da je svjedokinja ubojstva.
U St. Mary Meadu policija ne vjeruje njezinoj priči tvrdeći da je sve to samo umislila, no gđica Marple poznaje prijateljicu puno bolje i započinje svoju istragu.
