Nakon neuspješnog pokušaja samoubistva, Roary
(John Savage) ostane djelimično hendikepiran i
nastani se u oronuloj kući u Oaklandu u Kaliforniji.
Roary provodi mnogo vremena u obližnjem baru,
koji je pun osoba sa invaliditetom te postaje najbolji
prijatelj sa barmanom Jerrijem (David Morse), koji ima
povredu noge. Jerriju se nasmiješi sreća kada mu
profesionalan košarkaš posudi novac za operaciju noge.
Nakon uspješne operacije, Jerry ispunjava svoj san i
postaje košarkaška zvijezda, napušta stare prijatelje,
zaboravljajući da su ikad postojali.
