Опис:
Radnja filma započinje u vrijeme Prvog svjetskog rata koji razdvaja mlade američke supružnike, Elizabeth i Johna. Čekajući supruga da se vrati, Elizabeth radi kao knjižničarka u lokalnoj kompaniji. Vijest o njegovoj smrti zatekne je trudnu i bez plana za budućnost. Vlasnik kompanije, Lawrence Hamilton pomaže joj pa se i vjenčaju. Odgajaju Johnova sina kao Lawrenceova i čine sretnu obitelj.
