Ratna drama o pohodu američkih pilota na Japan u travnju 1942., inspirirana istinitim događajima opisanima u knjizi sudionika tih događaja, majora Teda W. Lawsona, The Doolittle Raid Pilot Ted Lawson (Van Johnson) sprema se u Tokio, na tajni vojni zadatak koji vodi pukovnik Jimmy Doolittle (Spencer Tracy). To mu teško pada, osobito zbog činjenice da ostavlja mladu suprugu Ellen (Phyllis Thaxter) s kojom se tek vjenčao i koja je usto i trudna.
