Bogata prominentna dama Lois Frejzer, koja se razvodi od svog muža koji je lovac na bogatstvo, Hauarda, pronalazi pištolj koji je on kupio. Ona ga time ubija pred novim čovekom u svom životu, poručnikom Edom Kalenom, detektivom za ubistva u policiji San Franciska.
