Triler. Po završetku Drugog svjetskog rata Susanne Mallinson (C. Bloom) odlazi u posjet svome bratu Martinu (G. Toone), bojniku koji je premješten u Berlin gdje se i oženio Njemicom Bettinom (H. Knef). U Berlinu Susanne upoznaje nekadašnjeg odvjetnika Ivu Kerna (J. Mason), koji ima mračnu ratnu prošlost, a i sada je upleten u špijunsku mrežu. Susanna, koja u Kernu vidi samo njegovu bolju stranu, zaljubi se u njega. Iako bi Kern i sam želio prijeći na Zapad, tamošnjim je vlastima sumnjiv zbog nacističke prošlosti. Kada Susanne i sama postane žrtvom otmice, Kern tu vidi svoju priliku da se iskupi. Želi joj pomoći, ali pritom mora riskirati sve...
