Опис:

Hildi Džonson (Džek Lemon) je najbolji reporter u čikaškim novinama tokom dvadesetih godina. Umoran od cele te priče, odlučuje da napusti posao i oženi se. Međutim, njegov prepredeni urednik, Volter Berns (Volter Matau), ima druge planove. Sve se dešava samo jedan dan pre nego što okrivljeni (i poludeli) ubica, Erl Vilijams, treba da ode na vešala i Berns planira da Džonson ostane i napiše članak na tu temu.
