Troje uspješnih članova filmske industrije - Georgia Lorrison (Lana Turner), James Lee Bartlow (Dick Powell) i Fred Amiel (Barry Sullivan) - pozvani su u veliki studio kako bi razgovarali sa Jonathanom Shieldsom (Kirk Douglas), trenutno nezaposlenim producentom kojem duguju svoj uspjeh.
