Povijesni film čiji je scenarij inspiriran istinitom pričom o snimanju povijesnog epa 'Independenta Romaniei' (1912.), redatelja Grigorea Brezeanua. Redateljev alter ego u ovom filmu je Grigore Ursache, devetnaestogodišnji kazališni redatelj koji je zainteresiran za film, tada nov i ne pretjerano cijenjen medij. Njegov otac, ugledan kazališni redatelj očekuje da će Grigore krenuti njegovim stopama, no mladić ima drugačiju, ambicioznu ideju...
