Lepotica Clara Calhoun (J. Randolph) ima trgovinu koja je paravan za ilegalno klađenje. Dogovoreno je da njen dečko Duke Martin (J. Ireland) s kompanjonom opljačka trgovinu i uzme novac od klađenja. Operacija je pošla po zlu jer se u blizini zatekao policajac i pokušao sprečiti pljačku. Ubijen je, ali je uspeo pogoditi jednog kriminalca. Da bi se izvukao jer je ubio policajca, Duke Martin uvuče u priču nevinog vlasnika ukradenog auta, Stevea Ryana (E. Kelly), kao počinitelja. Detektiv Mickey Ferguson (H.
