Italijansko-francuski igrani film snimljen 1975. godine u režiji Maura Bologninija. Po žanru je drama, a scenario je inspiriran pričom iz istoimene zbirke Marija Tobina. Radnja se događa 1930. godine u Toskani gdje psihijatar (čiji lik tumači Marcello Mastroianni) vodi duševnu bolnicu, istovremeno pokušavajući pronaći "esenciju" ludila i održavajući istovremene ljubavne vezu sa tri različite žene, a što će se dodatno zakomplicirati dolaskom nove mlade kolegice.
