Netom udanu Lachchi suprug Kishanlal ostavlja samu dan nakon vjenčanja. Predan više poslu i ocu, bogatom trgovcu Bhanwarlalu nego vlastitoj mladenki, Kishanlal odlazi na pet godina u udaljen grad da bi pokrenuo novi posao. Lachchi je neutješna.
