Snimljen bez suvišnih dijaloga, film prati brodskog radnika na putu kući. Farrel je gotovo cijeli život proveo lutajući i mijenjajući poslove. Nikad se nigdje nije skrasio niti ostao dovoljno dugo da stekne prave prijatelje. S posljednjeg posla na brodu odlazi na dopust u posjet majci. Iz lučkog grada odlazi u planine, a tijekom putovanja postaje očigledno da taj povratak Farrelu nije nimalo lak.
