Lingui je čadski izraz za »svete veze«. A dotične veze odnose se na burnu interakciju samohrane majke i njene iznimno inteligentne teen kćeri, izbačene iz škole zbog trudnoće. Iako lokalne teokratske vlasti bliske s crkvom vjeruju da se takve veze mogu izgraditi isključivo između majke i njena nerođena djeteta. Naravno, majka odbacuje bilo kakvu pomisao na kćerin pobačaj, kada se u igru ubacuje njena ambivalentna teta. Jer »svete« veze u filmu su prvenstveno fokusirane na žene.
