Nespretni pljačkaš banaka kao taoca uzima bivšeg zatvorenika (Gérard Depardieu).
Policija juri za njima, a likovi mijenjaju uloge; talac postaje dadilja pljačkašu i "otac" njegovoj
nijemoj kćeri. Sada zatvorenik koji je bio optužen za četrnaest pljački banaka odlučuje da će ih
sve izbaviti iz nevolja. Pomaže čudnoj maloj obitelji da se sakrije od policije što dovodi do
mnogo novih problema za njega. No, nagrada će mu biti obiteljska atmosfera i ljubav
