Pjer (Mišel Pikoli), uspešni ekspert za gradnju autoputeva dođivljava saobraćajnu nesreću. Dok on ozbiljno povređen misli da ga uskoro očekuje smrt seća se delova svoje uzbudljive prošlosti.
Čuvena prelepa austrijska glumica Romi Šnajder igrala je u mnogo značajnih filmova od početka pedesetih do osamdesetih godina prošlog veka. Igrala je Elizabetu, austrijsku vladarku u filmu „Sisi“. Poznata je i njena velika ljubavna romansa sa francuskim glumcem Alen Delonom. Rastali su se ali su mnogi koji su je poznavali govorili da ga nikad nije prebolela. Jednom je Romi misleći na svoju romansu sa Delonom, izjavila: „Nema ničeg hladnijeg od mrtve ljubavi“. Izvršila je samoubistvo u svojoj 44 godini.
