Korin Berns je petanestogodišnjakinja koju počne da bije loš glas kada da otkaz u kiosku brze hrane tokom živog televizijskog prenosa. Korin oformi bend The Stains sa svojom sestrom Trejsi i rođakom Džesikom. Na svirci hard-rok benda The Metal Corpses koji predvodi energični pevač Lu Korps, a čija predgrupa je britanski pank bend Looters, Korin se ušunja iza bine da potraži savet, baš u trenutku kada Lu zahteva od svog menadžera, Lonboja, da pronađe novu predgrupu. Lonboj impulsivno ponudi posao bendu The Stains i, mada prvi nastup bude prilična katastrofa, Korinina čiroki frizura, provokativna odeća i prkosne izjave poput one Mi ne damo nikome privuku pažnju televizijskog reportera koji je ranije radio prilog o Korin. Priča u večernjim vestima o grupi The Stains pretvori ih u kultnu senzaciju, a pevač grupe Looters pokušava da savetuje Korin i pruža joj emotivnu podršku na njihovom putu da postanu glavni bend, ali Korin i njeni prijatelji ubrzo shvataju da su njihovi obožavaoci veoma prevrtljiv soj.
