Опис:
Annamaria Montorsi, ex prostituta, e in vacanza al mare con la figlia : per sfuggire ai pettegolezzi si finge vedova. E' pacata e riservata, e questo la rende benvoluta da tutti, in particolare il sindaco del paese si interessa a lei. Un giorno, per scommessa, un villeggiante che e stato suo "cliente" vorrebbe averla, ma lei lo respinge. Per ripicca l'uomo rivela a tutti la vera identita della donna. All'improvviso, la benevolenza si trasforma in diffidenza e disprezzo, e chi prima era affabile con lei vorrebbe allontanarla dall'albergo. L'intervento del sindaco non risolve la situazione e solo quando un anziano industriale, ricco e potente, decide di prenderla sotto la sua protezione, gli altri tornano a considerarla e a darle confidenza e rispetto.
