Francuska komična priča o životu u gradiću koji leži na granici Italije i Francuske.
Asola je izmišljeno naselje u pograničnom delu Italije i Francuske. Granica se proteže kroz jedno selo i remeti svakodnevni život građana. Francuski carinski agent Ferdinand pokušava da uhvati ozloglašenog italijanskog švercera Đuzepea. On, spletom komičnih okolonosti, otkriva da je Ferdinand, zapravo, rođen u Italiji, pa po zakonima, nikako ne može da obavlja posao carinika.
