Trenutak istine je dirljivi osvrt na život poznatog toreadora, čiji lik tumači legendarni toreador Migel Mateo, poznat kao Migelin. Migel Romero je nestašni sin farmera koji se muči da preživi u zabačenim, sušnim predelima Španije. On odluči da pronađe bolji život u Barseloni, ali shvati da nesigurni kontakti koje je imao ne mogu da mu nađu posao. Posle nekoliko meseci slabe zarade i bez napretka, on ugleda plakat za čuvenog matadora i shvati da tako slavna ličnost sigurno zarađuje velike svote novca. On trenira da postane toreador i počinje da gradi ime, sve dok konačno ne dostigne slavu i bogatstvo.
