Teško je riješiti se starih navika. To tvrdnju dokazat će nam Wiley, koji se nakon izlaska iz zatvora upušta u još jednu prevaru, i to s osobom koja ga je već jednom ostavila na cjedilu! Ovoga puta, zadatak je još opasniji jer osoba koju žele preveslati mafijaški je boss!
Wiley (Jeff Goldblum) je krivotvoritelj skupocjenih umjetnina kojeg je partnerica u ljubavi i poslu prevarila i ostavila na služenju dvogodišnje kazne. Po izlasku iz zatvora, Wiley se vraća u Los Angeles i zapošljava kao konobar, stalno razmišljajući o Kate, ali i o pet milijuna franaka koje mu je ona ukrala. Prevrtljiva Kate (Kristin Scott Thomas), koja je u međuvremenu postala zaručnicom mafijaškog bossa, ima plan za unosan posao, a jedino što joj nedostaje spretan je krivotvoritelj - što je upravo Wiley.
