Radnja ove televizijske drame Ingmara Bergmana odvija se na pozorišnoj sceni nakon eksperimenta za Strindbergov komad "Igra snova". Ostareli reditelj ostaje sam sedeti na pozornici, kao da mu je to dnevna soba. Mlada se glumica vraća na pozornicu pod izgovorom da je izgubila narukvicu. Ona zapravo želi razgovarati s velikim rediteljem i možda početi ljubavnu vezu, kao i mnoge druge glumice pre nje. Stari reditelj je nekada bio ljubavnik njene majke i postoji čak mogućnost da je njen otac.
