Ovo je prvi od tri filma koja je Elvis Presley snimio na Havajima, slijedili su "Girls! Girls! Girls!" (1962.) i "Paradise, Hawaiian Style" (1965.). "Blue Hawaii" osvojio je nagradu udruženja američkih scenarista za najbolje napisan mjuzikl.
