Radnja filma je smeštena u vreme Prvog svetskog rata. Film priča o naporima prve australijske firme za kopanje tunela, da iskopa tunel ispod nemačkog bunkera i detonira ekspolozive kako bi omogućili dalji napredak britanskim trupama. Scenario ovog filma pisan je po dnevniku kapetana Olivera Vudvorda, čiji lik tumači Brendan Cowell. Većina ratnih scena odvija se odvija u tunelima tako da je film mogao biti ostvariv uprkos niskom budžetu.
