Producenti filmova Betmen počinje i Vitez tame udružili su snage sa najuvaženijim japanskim umetnicima animacije da bi ispitali transformaciju Brusa Vejna od namučenog borca protiv kriminala do herojske ikone dekadentne metropole. Podeljen u šest nezavisnih poglavlja, ali sa ciljem da bude posmatrana kao celina, ovaj stilizovan pogled na besmrtnog superheroja iz stripova je rezultat saradnje između Šođira Nišimija (Tekonkinkrit), Jašuro Aokija (Vodena para), Futošija Higašide (Mobilno odelo Gandam: Čarov protivnapad), Tošijukija Kuboke (Tajna Plave vode) i Hirošija Morioke (Letopisi krila).
