Опис:

Britanski crno-bijeli igrani film snimljen 1958. u režiji Ralpha Thomasa. Po žanru je drama, i predstavlja adaptaciju istoimenog romana Charlesa Dickensa. Radnja se događa u Francuskoj za vrijeme Revolucije, a protagonist, koga tumači Dirk Bogarde, je piću skloni engleski advokat kome će savjest probuditi kada otkrije da žena koju voli (a čiji lik tumači Dorothy Tutin) zajedno sa aristokratskim mužem postaje metom krvoločnih sankilota. Iako je za tadašnje kostimirane drame u Britaniji i drugim zemljama snimanje u boji već postalo svojevrsni standard, režiser Thomas je namjerno inzistirao na crno-bijelom filmu smatrajući da je književni predložak "zamišljen upravo za takvu vrstu filma".
